Ani J. Avetisyan graduated from the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Yerevan State University, Armenia (YSU), where she specialized in Turkic Studies during her Bachelor’s and Master's degrees. She is PhD candidate.
Ani is currently working at the Matenadaran – Research Institute of Ancient Manuscripts after Mesrop Mashtots as a Researcher, Specialist of Turkic studies, Codicologist (March 2008-present) and a lecturer of Ottoman-Turkish Literature at Institute of Oriental Studies of Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University (September 2022- present).
She is a member of professional associations: Islamic Manuscript Association, Cambridge (since 2010); ICOM (since 2020), Association for the Study of Persianate Societies (since 2023), Association of Turkish Studies (since 2023), Association of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan – WOSCU (since 2023).
She is the author of 19 articles, a monograph entitled "The Foreign- Language Manuscript Dictionaries of the Matenadaran (Persian-Ottoman Turkish, Arabic-Ottoman Turkish, Chaghatai-Ottoman Turkish, Arabic-Persian-Ottoman Turkish, Armeno-Turkish-Persian, Armeno-Turkish-Arabic)" (in Armenian and English), and co-author of the book titled "Armenian Dioceses of Adana", vol. I, (in Armenian).
She presented more than 14 papers at Local and International Conferences, Congresses, and Workshops.
The sphere of her scientific interests includes the study of Ottoman Turkish manuscript and documented sources, bilingual and trilingual Ottoman Turkish and Armeno-Turkish manuscript dictionaries, the Ottoman Turkish medical manuscript treatises, Chaghatai Turkish manuscript sources, Armeno-Turkish literature, also studying of Armeno-Turkish manuscripts and documented sources.
The topic of her PhD thesis is "The Thematic Features of Orhan Pamuk's Writings".
Her native is Armenian. She is fluent in English, Russian and Turkish.
